Small Groups
Small Groups
Bring people together.
We're all about doing life together. It's an important part of our culture at Catalyst.
Small Group Host
Start doing life with others.
Help build more intimate communities for people who come to Catalyst, so they get more than just the weekend church service. Hosting a Small Group means you invite people to your house (or a restaurant, atrium, field, stream, wherever), and then you help get people to talk, share their stories and opinions, and pray.
God uses intimate connections with other people as a catalyst for change - in us, in our relationships with him and others, in our families and in the world. But sometimes people need a lot of encouragement to begin building community. So if you want to bring people together in a simple way, try hosting a Small Group.
Small Group Q&A:
How do I start?
There are many ways: ask people you already know, meet new people in a Community Group and branch off, or do some Outreach events.
How many people make a Small Group?
There's no perfect number, but we've found that 4-12 people seems to work best for communication and trust-building.
Do groups last forever?
Some Small Groups meet for years - others meet for a season around a specific issue. It's OK to end a Small Group if nobody's getting anything out of it.
What materials do I start with?
We can offer some suggestions. How about studying the Bible together? Or you could read a popular book as a group and discuss it every week. Movie Small Groups are fun, but we can never get folks to show up for our "Finding God in The Garbage Pail Kids Movie" group (not sure why?!?). Or we can point you to a ton of resources. Also, every Spring Catalyst will start a community-wide journey for all Small Groups.
