What We Believe
we believe...
...in God. There is only one God and he created everything, including us. The Bible says we are created in his image, which means we are like him in many ways. The Bible also says that God loves us and wants a relationship with us, but it's not a relationship he forces on us. Because he made us with the wonderful ability to make decisions, we have the freedom to respond to the relationship God has initiated with us.
...we have the freedom to pursue God or reject him. Many of the choices we make either move us closer to God or further away from him. The choices we make that separate us from God are called sin. We all do it, and we'll continue to do so. But that doesn't stop God. He continues to love and pursue us.
...God loves us so much that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die so the rest of us could live. The cost of mankind's sin was separation from God - spiritual death - until Jesus came and his death paid everyone's debt. Jesus died for all of us. And no matter how far away from God you feel you are, you can receive his free gift of grace. God is in the grace business. He gives it freely and abundantly.
...it's up to us to decide whether or not we believe this stuff. If we believe it and receive it we can become new people. God wipes away the old stuff and we have a new, full life in relationship with him. That doesn't mean we won't have questions about stuff or that everything will go our way. But God has given us an idea of how to live like people who follow him (the Bible) and a church community that supports, encourages, and loves us along the journey.
